Arrest Made in Armed Robbery Case

A Los Gatos resident responded to an online ad for the sale of a gaming system. On Jan. 15, the resident made arrangements to meet a male subject near Parkway Park, located at 3675 Forest Ave. in Santa Clara, at approximately 2 p.m. During the exchange, the subject robbed the victim at gunpoint.

Through investigation, the Santa Clara Police Department’s (SCPD) Crime Analyst identified a possible suspect. Detectives and members of SCPD’s Special Enforcement Team conducted additional follow-up. Evidence gathered during the investigation provided Detectives with probable cause to believe the subject identified by the Crime Analyst was the suspect involved in the robbery. As a result, Detectives obtained a warrant to arrest Zion Nelson.

On March 24, at approximately 4:43 p.m., Zion Nelson, a 19-year-old resident of San Jose, was located and arrested by SCPD for armed robbery, carrying a concealed firearm and resisting arrest. Nelson was in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
