Active-Duty Marine Recruiter Arrested in Sunnyvale on Suspicion of Sexual Assault

Sunnyvale DPS has arrested an active-duty military recruiter for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl at the Marine Corps recruiting center on Mary Avenue.

According to investigators, Jorge Lara-Pedroza met the 17-year-old girl during a recruiting event at her school last week. She reportedly expressed interest in the military and met with Lara-Pedroza at the recruiting center on Monday, Oct. 28.

Investigators say that’s when Lara-Pedroza sexually assaulted the girl.

He was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on several criminal counts.

Lara-Pedroza is being held on $245,000 bail.
